I found airbrushing in 2001. I have always liked drawing and painting, and had always wanted to try airbrushing, but never got the chance to when I was growing up.
I was looking through my local paper, in the classifieds, and I saw an ad for a garage sale that listed an airbrush as one of its items. I went to the sale, thinking I was going to find a $5 hobby brush, but instead, was pleasantly surprised to find it was a Passche VL (a "Real" airbrush!). I bought that airbrush, and then set about to learn to use it. I borrowed a Terry Hill video for beginning airbrushers from my local library, and watched it several times, following Terry's instructions to the letter. It took several months of practicing until I was even half way decent at it, but it was fun to do, and it came to me pretty easily.
I was contacted by a fellow airbrush artist, and asked if I could fill in for him at an opening day event for a baseball league. I went to that booking, and really never looked back. I had a blast, even in the pouring down rain, and found out that I really liked doing this for a living.
I took classes for airbrushed body art and temporary tattoos, and another class for automotive painting, to learn about the differences in technique and paints used in each of those areas, and it has really helped me a lot.
I really enjoy what I do, and I try very hard to give everyone the best work I'm capable of.... but I don't forget, I am always learning new things, and trying to improve myself every day.
